As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to affect lives and disrupt the daily living of many people, the Communities of the St. Matthew Province (SMP) made some initiatives in adapting to the “new normal,” and at the same time, to respond to the needs of their neighbor that affected by this crisis. Here are some of the community initiatives which took place between April to May 2020. This article is an update to the 1^st of a series, which featured the activities from February to March 2020.

Taking advantage of the period of the General Community Quarantine, while following the prescribed cautionary measures, Fr. Orville Cajigal, RCJ, the Provincial Superior, did the Canonical Visit to the Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Parish on June 1-2, 2020. The encounter was highlighted with personal dialogue with each of the members of the religious community, and with prayers, which were mostly live-streamed to ensure continuous evangelization of the faithful while staying at their respective homes. Bro.

From June 3-5, 2020, Fr. Orville Cajigal, RCJ, the Provincial Superior, did the Canonical Visit to the St. Hannibal Empowerment Center (SHEC),observing prescribed precautions while the area is under General Community Quarantine. Personal dialogue with each of the members of the religious community, and prayers highlighted the visit. Fr. Cajigal also had the opportunity to have an encounter with the staff of the religious community and the SHEC as a social welfare and development agency. Bro.

Today, on the Solemnity of Saints Peter and Paul, June 29, 2020 the Rogationists of the Heart of Jesus – St. Matthew Province rejoices to receive, for the first time, the religious vows of 12 Novices, and to admit 10 Postulants for the Novitiate in a solemn Eucharistic celebration held at the Oasis of Prayer, Silang, Cavite.

                   “Missione, che passione!” è il titolo del nuovo libro di Padre Vito Magno, pubblicato dalla Libreria Editrice Vaticana. Il libro raccoglie oltre cento frasi  pronunciate da Papa Francesco, in varie circostanze, sul tema della “missione”, facendole seguire dal commento, in forma di intervista, a 15 noti esperti le cui competenze spaziano in ambiti diversi: città, continenti, famiglia, consacrati, media, lavoro, solidarietà, emarginazione, cultura, ecumenismo, evangelizzazione,  giovani, laici, movimenti, fondazione missio.

The St. Matthew Province, through the efforts of Fr. Ariel Tecson, RCJ, the Provincial Councilor on the Sector on Religious Life, Formation and Vocation Ministry, in coordination with the host-community of the Fr. Hannibal Formation Center in Parañaque City, headed by Fr. Ronaldo Paulino, RCJ, organized a Requiem Mass for Fr. Cesare Bettoni, RCJ. Fr. Cesare was a father, a mentor, a friend and a spiritual guide to many in the Philippines, particularly to his confreres in the Circumscription.

L’11 Luglio alle ore 18,30 presso il Villaggio del Fanciullo “Sant’Antonio” nel quartiere Lanera di Matera, i Padri Rogazionisti intitoleranno la Cappella “Sacri Cuori” adiacente all’istituto e alla parrocchia.  La cappella è stata realizzata con il contributo della famiglia Basile in memoria della Sig.na Immacolata Basile scomparsa il 9 aprile scorso. I familiari ne scopriranno la targa in sua memoria. Alle ore 19,00 seguirà la Celebrazione Eucaristica che si terrà nel campo di calcio del Villaggio del Fanciullo presieduta da P.

Sanger, 30 giugno 2020. Oggi abbiamo salutato Padre Devassy che ritorna alla sua Circoscrizione di appartenenza, St. Thomas Quasi-Provincia, dopo 8 anni di lavoro nella Delegazione Americana Our Lady of Guadalupe. Al saluto erano  presenti le due comunità di Sanger e Reedley; era presente anche il superiore della Delegazione, Padre Antonio Fiorenza, venuto da Los Angeles per l’occasione  e anche per accompagnare il postulante Adan Perez nei suoi esercizi spirituali prima di entrare nel Noviziato il prossimo 5 luglio.

Quest'anno, al termine del percorso scolastico del Liceo Scientifico dei Rogazionisti a Padova più di metà classe (composta da 31 elementi) ha superato l'esame di maturità superando i 90/100. Inoltre, tre alunni hanno preso il massimo dei voti, ricevendo l'encomio anche dalle pubbliche autorità. Nel Gazzettino di Padova l'evento è stato messo in evidenza, lodando la preparazione e il percorso formativo offerto dalla Scuola dei Rogazionisti. Sono iniziati i lavori di una nuova vetrata dedicata a San Lorenzo che verrà istallata nella parete di ingresso. Gli artisti vetrai sono già a buon punto e si prevede che nella settimana dedicata alla festa patronale Lorenzo si possa inaugurare. Per l'evento è stato già contattato l'Arcivescovo di Milano, Mons. Delpini, che presiederà la santa messa il prossimo 19 settembre 2020, alle 21. I nostri migliori auguri al Parroco, P. Paolo Formenton, e alla Comunità Rogazionista presente a Trezzano.
