La 61a Giornata Mondiale di Preghiera per le Vocazioni è arrivata e don Efren Suralta, missionario vicenziano, ha presieduto la Messa, sottolineando il ruolo del Buon Pastore che si sacrifica per le pecorelle smarrite. Ha condiviso la sua storia vocazionale, sottolineando il cammino da un mondo perduto a uno illuminato. Infine, P. Efren ha esortato tutti a pregare il Signore della Messe perché è il Buon Pastore, soprattutto per le pecore perdute.
L'evento si è concluso con l'Open Forum. La signora Elizabeth, una parrocchiana di Sideia, ha sfidato tutti con le sue riflessioni: "Accettiamo la spiacevole realtà che nelle nostre isole non c'è ancora vocazione. Forse è perché non abbiamo pregato abbastanza. Questo Jamboree vocazionale non è solo un evento giovanile, ma un invito a pregare di più, affinché il Signore invii santi lavoratori". Ha concluso ringraziando tutti i missionari per il loro importante ruolo nella sua vita cristiana.
Infine, Padre Welbert Suarez, superiore della comunita' rogazionista di Sideia, ha ringraziato tutti i partecipanti per aver reso l'evento significativo e di successo, con un ringraziamento speciale ai missionari religiosi e ai missionari laici che hanno abbellito l'isola con la loro presenza. Un ringraziamento speciale va ai missionari che hanno fatto sentire la loro presenza sull'isola: Suor Roberta Simbajon del Daugh. 61st WDPV: Vocation Jamboree 2024! Diocese of Sideia-Alotau, Papua New Guinea
The World Day of Prayer for Vocations arrived and Fr. Efren Suralta, a Vincentian missionary, presided the Mass, emphasizing the role of the Good Shepherd who sacrifices himself for the lost sheep. He shared his own vocation story, highlighting the journey from a lost world to an enlightened one. Finally, Fr. Efren challenged everyone to pray to the Lord of the Harvest because He is the Good Shepherd, especially for the lost.
The event ended with the Open Forum. Mrs. Elizabeth, a parishioner from Sideia, challenged everyone with her reflections: "Let us accept the unfortunate reality that there is still no vocation in our islands. Perhaps it is because we have not prayed enough. This Vocation Jamboree is not just a youth event, but an invitation to pray more, so that the Lord may send holy workers". She concluded by thanking all the missionaries for their important role in her Christian life.
Finally, Father Welbert thanked all the participants for making the event meaningful and successful, with special thanks to the missionaries and lay missionaries who graced the island with their presence.
