Mons. Simon Ok, Arcivescovo di Gwangju, ha benedetto il Centro Caritas di Suncheon il 24 settembre 2023, in occasione della celebrazione della Giornata Mondiale del Migrante e del Rifugiato. Questo sarà il centro in cui P. Noel Balquin e P. Joseph Cuong, in collaborazione con il Suncheon Caritas Center, svolgeranno il loro servizio ai migranti, in particolare alle comunità cattoliche vietnamite e filippine del distretto di Suncheon.
La benedizione è stata preceduta dalla Santa Messa delle 10:00 e dal Rito della Cresima di oltre 50 fedeli presso la vicina Chiesa Cattolica di Seo Myeon, di recente costruzione, presieduta dall'Arcivescovo stesso. Venticinque dei cresimati erano giovani adulti provenienti da famiglie multiculturali (matrimoni misti tra un coreano e una persona di un'altra nazionalità) provenienti dal Vietnam e dalle Filippine, insieme ad altri candidati coreani provenienti da varie chiese vicine.
Nel pomeriggio, alle 14:00, l'Arcivescovo Simon Ok si è recato alla Chiesa e Centro di Caritas di Suncheon per benedire il complesso. Hanno partecipato anche altri sacerdoti delle chiese vicine. Dopo la benedizione, sono stati consegnati degli attestati di riconoscimento ad alcune persone. Poi i leader filippini e vietnamiti hanno dato i loro messaggi di ringraziamento. Le comunità filippina e vietnamita hanno inoltre eseguito una semplice canzone. Il messaggio finale è stato dato da Padre Peter Kim Jun Ho, direttore del Centro Caritas di Suncheon. Nel suo messaggio ha presentato i sacerdoti rogazionisti ai fedeli e la loro collaborazione nel ministero pastorale degli immigrati filippini e vietnamiti nelle aree di Suncheon, Dowha, Nokdong e Yeo Su.
Dopo i saluti, ogni comunita' ha avuto l'opportunità di scattare una foto di gruppo con l'Arcivescovo.
Il programma si è concluso con un semplice spuntino, una varietà di cibi provenienti dalla Corea, dal Vietnam e dalle Filippine.
Gwangju, South Korea: Celebrating Migrant Sunday
Mons. Simon Ok, Archbishop of Gwangju, blessed the Suncheon Caritas Center on September 24, 2023, on the occasion of the Church's celebration of the World Day of Migrants and Refugees. This will be the center where Fr. Noel Balquin and Fr. Joseph Cuong, in collaboration with the Suncheon Caritas Center, will minister to the migrants, especially the Vietnamese and Filipino Catholic communities in Suncheon District.
The blessing was preceded by the 10 a.m. Holy Mass and Rite of Confirmation of more than 50 faithful at the nearby newly built Seo Myeon Catholic Church, presided over by the Archbishop himself. Twenty-five of those confirmed were young adults from multicultural families (mixed marriages between a Korean and a person of another nationality) from Vietnam and the Philippines, along with other Korean candidates from various nearby churches.
In the afternoon, at 2:00 p.m., Archbishop Simon Ok went to Suncheon Caritas Center and Church to bless the complex. Other priests from nearby churches also attended. After the blessing, certificates of recognition were given to some distinguished persons. Then the Filipino and Vietnamese leaders gave their messages of thanks. A simple song was also performed by the Filipino and Vietnamese communities. The final message was given by Fr. Peter Kim Jun Ho, the director of the Suncheon Caritas Center. In his message, he introduced the Rogationist priests to the faithful and their partnership in the pastoral ministry to the Filipino and Vietnamese migrants in Suncheon, Dowha, Nokdong, and Yeo Su areas.
After the greetings, each community had the opportunity to take a group photo with the Archbishop.
The program ended with simple snacks, and a variety of food from Korea, Vietnam, and the Philippines.
